Overview: The Counselor in Training (CIT) program is designed for individuals seeking to develop leadership skills while gaining hands-on experience in a camp environment. CITs will assist counselors, engage with campers, and participate in camp activities, all while learning about the responsibilities of being a camp counselor.

  • Assists Counselors

    Support lead counselors in planning and implementing daily activities, ensuring campers are engaged and safe.

  • Lead Activities

    Take the lead on specific activities or groups under the guidance of counselors, such as arts and crafts, sports, or outdoor education.

  • Engage with Campers

    Build positive relationships with campers, serving as a role model and mentor.

  • Participate in Training

    Attend training sessions focused on leadership, safety protocols, conflict resolution, and outdoor skills.

  • Maintain Safety Standards

    Help ensure a safe environment for all campers, adhering to camp safety policies and procedures.

  • Communicate Effectively

    Report any concerns regarding camper behavior or well-being to counselors or camp leadership.

Qualifications

  • Age Requirement: 14-16 years old.

  • Interest in Working with Youth: A passion for outdoor activities and working with children is essential.

  • Basic Outdoor Skills: Familiarity with outdoor activities (hiking, swimming, arts and crafts, etc.) is a plus.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with campers and staff.

Duration:

  • July 7-August 8, 2025

Reports to:

  • Camp Director

Cost:

  • $150 per CIT

    • CITs will assist in the daily operations of camp, while also being able to participate in camp activities as a camper.
